Weekend at the Asylum is now entering its fourth year. One of the biggest steampunk events in the World it benefits from the backdrop of the beautiful and historic City of Lincoln which has welcomed us since 2009. The event attracts visitors from all over the World to enjoy a full convention style day programme and steampunk market with a fringe style evening programme of live theatre, music and comedy.
During the day the Castle and County Assembly Rooms host our day programme. The festival runs along the lines of a convention or expo. Your wristbands allows you to attend events, enter competitions check out exhibitions, meet authors, watch displays, attend talks, panels, dance classes and workshops and of course shop. The Bazaar Eclectica is the largest purely steampunk market in the World.
In the evenings we have theatrical and other presentations at the Bishop Greaves Theatre (Bishop Grossteste University) a fashion show, comedy night and the Fourth Annual Empire Ball at the sumptuous County Assembly Rooms and a full programme of live music in the Charlotte House Orangery.
Once again we are expecting a total sellout. We are expanding our capacity and hope that we will not be disappointing too many people but we do strongly urge you to book as soon as you are able.
(Attendees are responsible for finding their own accomodation in Lincoln over the festival. There is a wide variety available from single rooms at Bishop Grossteste University and spaces for campers and caravans to 5* luxury at some of the city's hotels such as Charlotte House. Since the festival is so popular accomodation gets booked early so we recommend you book yours as soon as you can.)

The Asylum is organised and run by the Victorian Steampunk Society which is a not-for-profit organisation which exists to promote the Steampunk Community in the UK. People attending are granted associate membership of the VSS so the event is in effect a series of private functions but the colourful nature of Steampunk means we also make quite an impression on the City. |
